下小代駅舎のツバメの巣は、残念ながら心無い駅員によって撤去されてしまいました。。。が、野菜の直売所ではたくさんツバメのヒナが元気に育っていました。もう親と変わらないぐらい大きくなって巣からはみ出しそう！
A cruel station stuff has, I am sorry to say , cleared swallow’s nest in Shimogoshiro station building. On the other hand many young swallows thrive in farmer’s market near Nikko Inn. Soon some will fledge out because they are too big as their nest.
新棟の基礎工事が着々と進むなか、床暖房の配管工事をしました。簡単な工事なのでパートさんと一緒に自分たちで施行したのですが、ずっとしゃがんでるのでけっこう肉体的にきつい！足パンパンの膝ガクガクで腰曲がってしまいました。しかもスタイロ（断熱材）の照り返しもあってかなり暑い！5月なのにこんがり小麦色になりました。でもこれで冬も快適な日光インとなるでしょう！乞うご期待！
The foundation work moved ahead steadily, we made floor heating circuits of New Nikko inn’s cabins. We thought the work is basically easy, but it inflicted us physical painful because we had to keep to crouch down all the time. We expect those cabins will be comfortable spaces after our hard work!

今日は雨が降って予定していた仕事ができなかったので、フロントの横にある旧駅舎の掃除をしました。この駅舎は新しい駅舎に建て替えのため壊されることとなったので、移築して残したものなのですが、今年で築83年、一応文化財の指定をして頂いています。
何かに使えばとても雰囲気の良い空間になること間違い無し！の建物なのですが、今のところ空き物件となっていて、たまに掃除するのみです。。。誰かご関心のある方ご連絡お待ちしております！

Today it was rain so we cleaned the old station building adjoining NIKKO INN’s reception. This is 83 years old and designated cultural property. You are welcome to see inside.
新棟はキッチンの窓をパワーウィンドウにする予定です！今日はそのモーター部分をつくりました。
New cabins will be equipped power windows. We made a sample motor.
新築棟の遣（や）り方（丁張りともいいます）をしました。遣り方とは建物の位置と基礎の高さを現地で実際に出す作業です。
Carpenters made ‘Yarikata’ for New NIKKO INN’s cabins. In the preparatory stage of foundation work, the enclosure can be built with wood piles and rails as benchmark, which is called ‘yarikata’.
図面の数値を大工さんがいろいろな道具を使って現地に落として行きます。
They use various tools to get the positions.
建物の芯から1mほど逃げたところに木杭をさしてそこに貫板を取付けます。この貫板は水貫とよばれ基礎の天端を現しています。さらに水貫には墨差しという特殊な筆を使って基準となる位置が記されます。
These woods ‘Mizu-nuki’ indicate the level of foundation. And those are signed positions by carpenter’s unique pen and ink.

先日、那須にあるTURBOに行ってきました。アムステルダムを中心に買い付けをしている服やアンティークを扱う店です。オーナーの伊藤さんはアーティストでもあり、一緒に内装の仕事などもしています。日光と那須は案外遠いのですが、是非足を伸ばして頂きたいかっこいいお店です！
This is a cool foreign-goods shop ’TURBO‘ in Nasu. Clothes and antiques imported from Amsterdam are displayed. The owner Ito-san is also an artist, so we sometimes work together. Anyway I highly recommend this shop!
日光インのある下小代駅のヤマツツジが満開です。毎年ゴールデンウィークが見頃ですが、今年は桜同様ちょっと遅れて咲きました。下小代駅を中心に3駅間でツツジが咲いていて車窓から楽しめます。
Azalea in Shimogoshiro station near NIKKO INN are in full blossom. It is late than usual. The beautiful scenery from the train window can be enjoyed around Shimogoshiro station.
写真を撮った帰りに駅舎の中でツバメの巣を発見！まだ作りかけのようですが、しっかり鳥除けの外れているところをみつけて作っているようです。
I found a swallow‘s nest in the station building after taking photos. It seems to be unfinished. They found small blank space of implement to scare away birds.They’ve got a nerve!
そして、フロントのりんごちゃんは飛んでいるツバメが気になって仕方ないようです。真似をしているのか変な声で鳴きながら外を眺めています。
And my lovely cat can’t get the flying swallows out of her mind. She looks out the window meowing strange to imitate swallow‘s song.
日光インの新築棟をたてる土地の地鎮祭をしました。連休に入って土砂降りの雨が続いていましたが、今日は晴天に恵まれました。地鎮祭は建築工事をはじめる前に土地の神様を鎮めて、土地を使わせてもらうことの許しを得るために行う儀式です。工事の安全と、出来上がった客室にたくさんのお客様に来て頂けるようにお祈りします。まずは、祭壇にお米やお神酒、野菜、果物、魚などを備えて地鎮祭の準備。
A ground-breaking ceremony for new cabins of NIKKO INN was held. It was raining these days but it is great weather on that very day. Ground-breaking ceremony in Japan is to offer prayers for the safety of construction work and the increasing business to god in the land. At first we offer rice, sake, vegetables, fruits and fish on the altar.
世代交代でとっても若い神主さんです。春らしい着物がいいです。祝詞をあげて、お祓いをしたあと、砂で作った築山の草にみたててたてた笹をカマで刈り、築山をクワで崩したあと、大工さんがスキでそれを戻します。着工まで本当にいろいろありましたが、いよいよ工事はじまります！
The priest is very young because of generational change. His springlike kimono is great. After reading address and purification ceremony is performed. The construction is stated at last!
パリからお越しのお客様。ソルボンヌ大学を最近退官された先生なんですが、旅行情報をストックしたiPadを巧みに使いこなすあたり流石でした。パリの郊外のご自宅に灯籠まである日本庭園を作ってしまった大の日本通でもあります。今回の旅行で集めた御朱印帳を見せて頂きました。お客様ビデオも撮らせて頂きました。
